More wind waves and wotifs

My art practice suffered a major loss of momentum this year but I am getting back into the groove. Not only did I do less painting but many of my administration tasks were put aside as well. I have been busy organising those and finding a way of balancing my life now that I am on my own. There are more domestic, home and garden maintenance tasks to deal with; but I also a need to get out and exercise and socialise more. And find time to paint!

Exhibition season has started requiring about 14 paintings to exhibit. About half of these will be exhibited for the first time. Its a juggling act as each organisation has different rules.

I had no sales at the Clarence Open but recently sold 4 abstacted landscapes on Bluethumb. I often create insitu room views that include a set of paintings from a series, hoping a collector may be enticed to purchase more than one. In this case it worked.

Some of the ‘new to exhibit’ paintings are pictured below. The waves #1117 and #1118 are recently finished.

I am preparing for my doctors’ practice exhibitions changeover early in September with a revamped set in the coastal theme for Sandy Bay Clinic. This will include the remaining 3 of those I completed a year ago. They are double mounted on boards ready for framing if required, although they can be hung as they are. I have loved painting these.

Early September heralds the the Rotary Hobart Art Show at the Boardwalk Gallery, Wrest Point, the Kingborough Art Prize at the Kingston Hub and then the Royal Hobart Show exhibition at the City Hall is in late October.

And the not to be missed Art Society’ of Tasmania’s Annual exhibition at the Long Gallery is in November this year. It’s such a busy time but inspiring with the promise of spring then summer to come.

As well, the Bellerive Community Art Centre has their Annual Exhibition and sale in early November.

I organised a free group guided tour of the Hadleys Art Prize again last week for a group of artists and friends lead by the knowledgable, entertaining Lynne Hasenkam. It was a great success. It is wonderful to get such insights into the artists their motivations and techniques. So much inspiration.
